Report on British marches in defence of Palestine

On February 3rd, hundreds of thousands of workers in Britain demonstrated in solidarity with the Palestinian people. They marched against the genocidal campaign of the imperialists, aiming to suppress the historic and heroic resistance of the Palestinian people.

Workers from all backgrounds have been uniting every week to attend demonstrations to defend the Palestinian cause from the savage and Genocidal campaigns of Israel. These marches, taking place across the world, have rocked imperialist leaders, with Netanyahu himself expressing concern with the international response.

A group of comrades were in attendance at the protests, discussing with the masses and learning more about their thoughts towards the ongoing campaign of Genocide, as well as the historical oppression as well as resistance from the Palestinian people against the settler state of Israel.

As the imperialist system continues to decompose it reveals its terroristic and destructive nature more and more openly. It is not just those living in nations oppressed by imperialism who are roused to resist. As the many crises become more and more frequent, more and more workers in Britain are awoken to the fact that it is the same rotten system plunging them into poverty which is pushing for the mass murder of Palestinians. This is exactly why we see such powerful displays of rebellion in Britain during these times of great turmoil.

The struggle of the people in Britain, Palestine and across the world is the class struggle, united in the necessary overthrow of the imperialist ruling class and the ushering in of a new, Socialist mode of production.

Furthermore, it is the same imperialist politicians expressing their support for Israel who choose to prioritise the Capitalists’ profits over the livelihoods of British workers. It is the insatiable thirst to drive up profits at the behest of the working class’s well-being that leads to the devastating policies of the Tory government, which is all but dead.

With the terrible decline and decay of conditions for the working class that has happened in the last decade, it is no surprise that this government is on the way out. However, it must be understood that we as workers can not rely on the Labour government to deliver any change whatsoever.

No matter who governs, the same capitalist ruling class will be ruling over us and administrating the continual exploitation of the working class every day. It has never been clearer that Labour’s nature is that of a capitalist party, whose disagreements with the Tories lie in how to best sustain the dreadful capitalist system, not how to best serve the British people.

Whilst many on the left are scrambling to form a new social-democratic electoral party, workers must understand that change does not come from waiting for elections and begging the capitalists to change their actions. Instead, it comes from organising and wielding workers’ power of collective, direct action and forcefully preventing the capitalists from achieving their goals. We need not look further than the success that groups like Palestine Action and Workers For A Free Palestine have had. Their blockades, disruptions and campaigns have profoundly affected companies like Elbit Systems and genuinely hindered British exports of arms to Israel.

Palestine Action have significantly disrupted the profit and operations of arms manufacturing company Elbit and the wider Israeli arms trade in Britain

The only way the people of Britain can permanently put a stop to the endless imperialist plunder, murder and destruction is to organise and fight for a Socialist Revolution. Only a Socialist system can put an end to the imperialist genocide, fuelled by Imperialist powers such as the British state. Whilst the situation is difficult, the forces of the world revolution are rising greater and greater with each passing day. Now is a time for revolutionary optimism, now is a time to fight.
